Ginger Green Smoothie

In the wintertime, we like to put ginger in our green smoothies. Curiously, we don’t like to use it much in the warm season. Lately I have been putting one inch of ginger root in my smoothie daily and today’s one tasted so wonderful that I decided to share its recipe with you.

Ginger Green Smoothie

1 bunch dandelion greens
1 ripe mango (with peel if it’s organic, but without pit)
1 ripe banana
½ inch ginger root
2-3 cups water

Blend well and enjoy.

Facts about Ginger
Ginger dates back over 3,000 years to India. Ginger is native to Southern Asia and has long been a staple addition to Asian cuisines. It is quite popular in the Caribbean Islands, where it grows wild in lush tropical settings.

Traditional Ayurvedic Medicine has recommended ginger for many gastrointestinal and blood diseases. It is used for abdominal bloating, coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, and for the treatment of inflammatory joint diseases, such as arthritis and rheumatism. A little piece of ginger goes a long way. Look at the multiple benefits:
  • Enhances natural resistance for cold and flu.
  • Reduces inflammation.
  • Supports healthy digestion, offering 180 times the protein digestive power of papaya.
  • Soothes digestion.
  • Contains at least 12 anti-aging constituents that inactivate free radicals.
  • Supports blood platelet health and cardiovascular function.
  • Twenty-two known constituents inhibit inflammatory 5-lipoxygenase, supports prostate health.
  • May increase absorption and utilization of other nutrients and herbs by 2 to 2.5 times.
Ginger is a good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin E, Vitamin B6, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium and Selenium, and a very good source of Manganese.

A Letter from a Participant of the Joy for Life Retreat

Joy for Life Retreat Dear Boutenkos, Emily; and Robert,

I wanted to take this time to let you know how much the Palisades Retreat changed my life. First of all, I lost 11 pounds. I weighed 189 lbs before I left and wieghed 178 lbs when I got back home. I noticed how much more energy I had during the retreat even though I was only sleeping 3-4 hours per night. On the health side, the facts I learned from Victoria and the Cancer movie, part 1 & 2, have completely changed the way I am going to eat, especially meat. I immediately went to a Mediteranian resturant Saturday night and ate mostly raw salad & some cooked vegetables. I feel more alert and find myself going out of my way to say hello to strangers instead of walking by them at the store. I never want to lose that feeling again.

Tom's workshop on "The Work" caused me to check myself immediately when I have a negative emotional reaction to something. It was a great combination, health and emotional recovery, I feel so good.

I recommend that the Cancer movie part 1 & 2 (Healing Cancer from the Inside Out) be shown at every retreat. It had such an affect on me as far as how many diseases are being cured throughout the country using raw foods and I would add Victoria's smoothies even further enhances the cures. Also the facts that support how much the Cancer Association is flat out lying to us about the cure rates. I am going to buy that movie and show it to everyone I can.

Sergei, I greatly enjoyed the trip to Venice beach and the Wild Edible walk. Your class was very informative and I am going to locate the local chapter for wild edibles to start gathering them around the Houston Texas area. Valya, I am going to start making the coconut smoothie. I really got a lot of ideas from your class and can't wait for your new movie to come out in a couple of months. I am grateful for receiving all the recipes of the smoothies we drank throughout the week. Robert does such a great job with all your helpful websites.

The location was absolutely breath-taking. We had the mountains & the ocean all within short walking distance. I thought I landed in Paradise.

Thank you friends!

J. W.
